Our Philosophy

  • A Holistic Approach — Being a Holistic Nutritionist and a Clinical Herbalist with a Life Coach and Lifestyle Management certificate, I believe we are more than just a body. We talk about ALL aspects of health from nutrition, to herbs, to relationships, and the mind-body connection.
  • Community — When you join HMB you join a community of people dedicated to learning and following the herbal path, these friendships will extend beyond the classroom and our program.
  • Intimate Class Size – We want to mentor you along your herbal education journey and ensure your success, so we deliberately keep classes small to enhance connection with both students and instructors.
  • Hands-On — You will get your hands on herbs  in the classroom and in the field. If you are taking the program on Zoom you will know what tools to have so you can follow along with us as we make medicine, explore botany, or get out to identify plants
I am so impressed with your program - it is very comprehensive and thorough. I appreciate how you have constructed it to align with requirements of the AHG approval - my eventual goal is to apply to AGH, so your Fundamentals program is an exciting first step toward that goal. Keep up the great work! I enjoy the weekly get togethers and check-ins you provide, and how active your biz is online and sharing so much valuable and practical info and application. I also appreciate how you stress incorporating herbs into our everyday life. Very important!! You are an inspiration! And I’m glad I made the decision to go with HMB! Of course, I am very appreciative that you made the course so affordable too! What a blessing that is to me!!

Are you like me?

Finding an in-person herbal program can be tough. I know! When I started taking herbal courses, I looked for a program that included everything I needed in order to understand the basics of herbalism from a holistic perspective AND preferably one I could attend in-person since I’m a hands-on, interactive learner.

I ran into several problems

  1. the closest program was an 8 hour drive from my home requiring monthly travel, absence from my home one weekend a month (leave Friday and get home Monday), and the additional cost of hotel, food, and gas.
  2. cost was prohibitive – the program was over $2000 and making payments wasn’t an option
  3. the herbal community I would be interacting with lived far from me – I wanted to build a more local circle of herbal friends

My next option was to find an online program that had definitive start date that I could take with other students at set dates and times.

Sadly I wasn’t able to find what I was looking for, but I’m not one to give up on my dreams, so I ended up taking a self-paced program.

It wasn’t easy! I worked hard to keep myself focused and moving forward. Sometimes I felt like the only herbal student out there and it was lonely.

So many situations came up in life that made it difficult to keep on task; some days it was sheer will power that kept me going, and on those days I had no deadlines nor other students to help keep me motivated.

That is what spurred me on to start an in-person program in 2018.

In 2020 our focus was on growing our online program – many people prefer or need to have a more flexible schedule and want to learn on their own time, that program is PERFECT for them (you can find that here) but for those of you who are like me, we’re offering the live class again.

Because we want to accommodate as many students as possible, we decided to add Zoom as an option as well. This way, if you want to follow along while taking class in your pajamas, you can!

You’ll still follow the set out schedule, interact with the class, ask questions, and learn in real time.

This program will follow the same basic format as our online program so all 18  sessions are covered. PDF handouts and quizzes will be available for you to access online before we meet in order to maximize class time.

We are excited to be starting this program again and can’t wait to meet our newest students!!

**If you are currently enrolled in the online Fundamentals program (for less than 12 months) and wish to apply the tuition you’ve paid thus far to the live program, please contact us. If you have been enrolled longer than 12 months we will not apply more than 1/2 of your tuition toward the live program, the exact amount will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Reduced Tuition

Are you wanting to explore a way to reduce your tuition? – refer another student to the program joining with a friend is always a great way to spread the herbal love and optimize your learning. If your friend enrolls, you will receive a $100 discount to the program (this only applies to the live Fundamentals program not to online programs – in that case you need to apply to become an affiliate)

The Details

I am 2 months into the Holistic Herbalism program with Huckleberry Mountain Botanicals and I couldn’t be more excited! The amount of content that Monica and Linde have available is staggering….there aren’t enough hours in the day for me to keep up in real time, work my way through the program and fill in with the archived videos! The information is presented in a very conversational way – it’s like being invited into their home for tea and a chat and you walk away having learned so much. I’m lucky to be on “winter time” with my job so that I can immerse myself into my herbal training. I was just sharing some of the things I’ve learned and the ideas I’m forming about what to do with my new knowledge with my husband and he was amazed by the volume of information I’ve received in such a short time. Thank you for a wonderful program! There are many herbal online programs out there, however, I believe Huckleberry Mountain to be far and away the most well rounded, inclusive and approachable program around!

Wonderful, professionally run school with incredible instructors. Monica and Sean are knowledgeable and engaging with an infectious passion for herbs, holistic health and education. They've created an immersive, comprehensive course that’s far more than simply learning about herbs and how to use them. They also cover things like practical plant cultivation techniques, garden and permaculture design, how to create your own materia medica, as well as a thorough review of the fundamentals of anatomy, physiology and botany you probably haven’t thought much about since high school/college. In addition to lectures and classwork, the program also includes a great deal of hands on, practical experience like making herbal preparations and participating in nature walks that build confidence in plant identification and wildcrafting. Best of all, it’s SO. MUCH. FUN. !!! Highly recommend HMB to anyone interested in a well-rounded holistic education.
